The 2026 VISUREAL · International Image Art Festival (VIIAF) invites submissions from artists and art organizations worldwide. As a leading international platform dedicated to image-based art, VIIAF integrates artistic practice with research-driven curatorial inquiry, fostering creative and scholarly exchange.
Festival Focus
VIIAF 2026 welcomes a diverse range of image-based works, including photography, video art, short films, animation, interactive media, AI-generated imagery, and AR/VR immersive installations. The festival will be held in Chengdu, China, and will present archival image materials, contemporary visual practices, and experimental projects that explore emerging technologies.
Conceptual Theme
By treating the image as an open visual language, VIIAF re-examines the cultural significance of the Silk Road and explores its relevance to contemporary art and society. Participants engage not only as creators but also as researchers and cultural observers, contributing to ongoing dialogue on image, history, and culture.

May 06-08, 2026: Selected residency program artists arrive in Chengdu, China.
June 9-11, 2026: 3-Day Site Visit.
June 12-25, 2026: Two-Week Residency for Creative Work (4 Days Preparation + 6 Days Filming + 4 Days Post-Production).
June 26, June 26, 2026: Festival Opening Ceremony.
June 26-28, 2026: Three-Day Screening Festival.
June 26-September 26, 2026: Documenta Exhibition.
